Rs 10 lakh reward for data on militants

Shillong, Nov. 4: Meghalaya police today announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of 10 “most wanted” militants mostly based in the Garo hills.

The “most wanted” militants include eight from the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) and two deserters of the outfit who have formed another group called the A’chik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF).

The GNLA cadres include Baichung Ch. Momin alias Nikkam, Kiljang R. Sangma alias Jangjang, Hedeo Ch. Momin alias Karak, Ajan Ch. Momin alias Jimmy, Kennedy T. Sangma alias Hebel, Rakban D. Shira alias Philiport, Rikchi D. Shira alias Rakkam and Zen Robert Ch. Marak alias Toding alias Rupanto.

The AMEF cadres are Jack Marak alias Jack and Chesrang D. Sangma alias Goran alias Janat.

“As a part of the ongoing counter-insurgency operations launched against various militant groups in the state, the police seek actionable intelligence against most-wanted militants operating in various parts of Meghalaya. Any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of any of the noted militants will be rewarded with a cash award of Rs 10 lakh,” a communiqué from the police headquarters said.

The police have assured that the name(s) of the informant(s), whose information leads to the arrest of the militant(s) would be kept “top secret”.

Information could be provided to the district superintendents of police of West Garo Hills, North Garo Hills, East Garo Hills, South Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills, West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills.

Besides, information could also be passed on to the inspector-general of police (operations) and the superintendent of police (Special Branch) in Shillong.
