Guwahati, Feb. 6: River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre registered a thumping 155-run victory over Nichols High School in a match of the fifth Hemanta Baruah inter-institution under-16 cricket tournament organised by Ankurjyoti Club at the Latasil playground here today.
Put in to bat, River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre put up a mammoth total of 192 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Nikhil Basfor topscored for his side with a gutsy knock of 81 runs off 47 deliveries, including 13 hits to the fence and one over the ropes.
Subham Das chipped in with 31 runs off 27 balls, which featured five boundaries.
For Nichols, Raja Pandey and Rahul Sharma picked up two wickets each.
Chasing a stiff target, the Nichols batsmen failed to stay in the middle for long as they were bundled out for a paltry 37 in 9.3 overs.
Chittaranjan Prasad was the lone batsman to reach the double-figure mark with 12 runs off eight deliveries, which included three boundaries.
For River Rine, Haidar Islam picked up three wickets, conceding 10 runs in his three overs while Chinmoy Deka scalped two wickets giving away eight runs in his 1.3 overs.
Earlier in the day, Gauhati Town Club Cricket Academy were handed over a walkover after the City Cricket Coaching Centre players failed to turn up at the venue.
Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre will take on Ankurjyoti Cricket Academy in the first semi-final tomorrow.
Bud cricket: Gauhati Town Club will play against City Cricket Club in the inaugural match of the 13th Jugal Kishore Newatia Bud Challenge cricket meet tomorrow.
The final is scheduled for February 22.
