Guwahati, July 28: Rejakshi Goswami, Rikshita Chaliha, Sumi Rajkumari, Rishika Mahanta, Suzen Burhagohain and Anushree Mahanta today made it to the quarter-finals of the under-10 girls’ event in the All Assam Open Ranking Badminton Championship, organised by the Don Bosco Alumni, Guwahati Unit, under the Assam Badminton Association (ABA), at the Don Bosco School auditorium here.
While Anushree got the better of Niharika Rabha 24-22, 21-17, the others got bye in the first round matches today.
In the under-10 boys’ singles, Yuvaraj Kashyap overcame a tough contest from Bhargav Hatibaruah for a 19-21, 21-18, 21-11, win in a first round encounter to join Tanmoy Bikash Baruah, Barneel Sarma, Ayad Rashid, Abhinab Baruah, Anurag Talukdar, Ishan Talukdar and Ayan Rashid in the second round.
While Tanmoy, Ayad and Ayan got first round byes, Barneel defeated Umor Al Rashid 21-4, 21-5, Abhinab handed a 21-8, 21-8 defeat to Debasish Parashar, Anurag tam-ed Kalpajyoti Rajkonwar 21-3, 21-2 and Ishan got the better of Dishanta Boro 21-11, 21-7.
Tanmoy also made it to the under-13 boys’ singles second round beating Kaustav Kardong 21-9, 21-9, while Nibir Ranjan Choudhuri overcame Udayditya Hazarika 24-22, 24-22, in a gruelling tie to join Tanmoy.
Tanmoy Buragohain cruised past Bhargav Mani Kashyap 21-12, 21-8, and Sanidhya Gautam Bora prevailed over Srimantajyoti Das 21-7, 21-11 to make it to the second round along with Ankit Borsaikia, Debraj Dey, Md Ali Irfan, Parbish Khan, Tejas Thakur, Perl Pratim Medhi, Rishabh Hazarika, Krishanu Kaushik Dutta, Yuvaraj Kashyap, Ayad Rashid, Mriganav Lekharu, Dikraj Kalita, Mridupaban Deka, Himagan Sharma, Prasurjya Kaushik, Dixit Gogoi, Partho Kakati, Madhurjya Moni Deka, Maharnav Mahanta, Abhishek Boro, Angshuman Gogoi, Debasish Parashar, Vivek Sinha, Dhiman Lahkar, Ayan Rashid, Prasurjya Kaushik, Abhijit Kr Choubey and Tuhin Chetia all of whom got bye in the first round.
