Guwahati, Nov. 12: Assam will fly out to Ahmedabad tomorrow afternoon for their second Ranji match against Gujarat in Valsad from Sunday.
The selectors have retained the same team which did duty against visiting Orissa so that every one gets a fair chance to prove their mettle.
Though the selectors had named a 14-member for the first two matches, there were reports that the change of guard might see some alterations in the team.
Assam’s third and last away match is against Baroda in Baroda from December 28.
The four-day match against Orissa ended in a draw after the fourth day’s play was washed out because of an incessant drizzle since last night, said team manager Sanjoy Dey.
An upbeat Assam Ranji coach Lalchand Rajput told The Telegraph that the season had started off on a satisfactory note.
“Having taken a first-innings lead, chasing 350 should give the team a lot of confidence. It is bound to have a positive impact. We should do well,” Rajput said.
The former test opener, who has played most of his cricket in the West Zone, expects a seaming track as Gujarat has a good seam attack.
“It will be a good test for our batsmen and bowlers alike. I hope everyone will carry his weight,” he added.
