Guwahati, Dec. 28: Rajib Dhar and Trailokya Nanda of Assam and Y. Dhanabir Singh of Manipur have taken the lead with 5.5 points at the end of six rounds in the Siba Ram Das Chess Championship here today.

Three other players, Nandan Buragohain, Durlov Nanda and Tridev Buragohain, are on five points each on the second day of the three-day meet.

Eight players - Mughaho Awomi of Nagaland, Chiraranjan Bhuyun, Amlan Mahanta, Biswajit Bharadwaj, Ravikant Tiwari, Lachit Kalita, Nitish Das and Subhajit Dhar - are in the third place with 4.5 points each at the end of six rounds.

With three more rounds to be played on the concluding day tomorrow, the meet is open with all the leaders having a clear chance of clinching the championship.

The winner will get Rs 25,000 as prize money.

The top 20 position holders of the tournament will receive cash awards while the top two players in each of the age categories - under 7, under-9, under-11, under-13, under-15, women's and veterans - will receive trophies and certificates.

Altogether 92 players from various districts of Assam and neighbouring states are participating in the Swiss league event under rapid time control. The tournament culminates tomorrow with the prize distribution ceremony in the evening.
