Imphal, April 5: Manipur lad Rahul Pamei today moved into the final of the under-12 boys' AITA Ranking Tennis Tournament, 2016, played at Officer's Club, Lamphelpat, here.
In the semi-final, Rahul got the better of Kolagotla Druv of Andhra Pradesh 6-0, 6-2 to move into the final.
In the other semi-final, H. Bhusan of Manipur beat Anchit Gogoi of Assam 6-4, 3-6 (10-8) to book his final berth in the tournament.
En route to the semi-final, Rahul beat Varun Aditya Kalita of Assam by 9-2 games while Druv beat Bornail Gogoi of Assam by 9-2 games.
In the under-12 girls' category, L. Bidyarani Devi will meet N. Charmi Devi, both of Manipur, in the final.
In the semi-final matches, L. Bidyarani beat L. Linda Devi 8-2, while N. Charmi trounced H. Mangalleima Devi 8-0.
In the doubles event for boys, Rahul and Bhusan outplayed the pair of Ch. Sushil and Jain Tanish, all of Manipur, by 8-0 games while S. Aswajit and his partner Aditya beat H. Shankar and A. Loyalakpa 8-3.
Volleyball: The All-Manipur Volleyball Association will be organising the second State-Level Cash Prize Junior Boys' Volleyball Tournament, 2016, to be held at Mapal Kangjeibung from April 7-14. Ten teams are participating in the meet.
Football: Southern Sporting Union thrashed Anouba Imagi Mangal 2-0 in the ninth Loktak Trophy, 2016, organised by All-Moirang Football Association at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School in Bishnupur district.
Fencing: Rakesh Rai of Assam, who bagged a bronze medal in the Senior National Fencing Championship in Pune from March 24 to 27, has been named in the Indian team in foil event to participate in the Asian Senior Fencing Championship to be held at Wuxi in China from April 13 to 18. The Indian team is leaving for China on April 10.
Cricket meet: City Cricket Coaching Centre will host the third All-Assam Golap Hazarika and Arati Hazarika T20 cricket tournament at Judges Field in Guwahati from April 16 to 26.
