Guwahati, March 2: The Guwahati wing of Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) - a skill development NGO - has joined hands with a Delhi-based women's organisation, Beti and Siksha (B&S) Foundation, to showcase the Northeast's way of life in New Delhi.
The organisations have sought space in the 44-acre-land at Rajghat from the Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti - the body responsible for taking care of the memorial - to set up seven huts representing the seven Northeast states there.
"We were planning to set up authentic huts of the seven states of the Northeast there. Each hut will be built with the authentic architecture of the respective state. There will be live art and cultural performances and exhibition of handicrafts, artefacts and cuisines. It would be more like the Janakpur Dilli Haat, only this one, will be dedicated to the Northeast," Manoj K. Das, director of IIE, Guwahati, told The Telegraph here today.
B&S foundation's promoter Renu Sharma, said, "People in Delhi do not know much about this (Northeast) part of the country. The kind of diverse culture this region possesses needs to be showcased there."?
Gulshan Gupta, Northeast co-ordinator of Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, has promised that he would see into the proposal and decide soon.
The organisations will hold a three-day seminar-cum-exhibition of women entrepreneurs of the Northeast at Lalmati here, which will be inaugurated by Union minister of state for sports and youth affairs Sarbananda Sonowal tomorrow.
"We have invited entrepreneurs from all the states of the Northeast to showcase their work in the exhibition. We will also provide them training on financial, legal and other aspects of setting up a business and also knowhow so that they can take their products to the international market," said Sharma.
The exhibition will culminate into a fashion show - Paridhan Utsav - which will be held at Silpgram here that will showcase the work of seven designers from the Northeast.
