Guwahati, Nov 18: Pawan Thakuria of Delhi Public School today turned a high-scoring match on its head with a blistering unbeaten 71 off 39 balls to overhaul South Point’s imposing 218 for 6 in 35 overs, the cornerstone of which was an equally belligerent 95 off 71 balls by Priyanku Chakraborty.
Thakuria, who was declared joint Man of the Match with Chakraborty, held on to his nerves to guide DPS home (219 in 30.4 overs) in the company of Krishna Arjun Hazarika who made nine off 10 balls in an unbeaten sixth wicket stand of 58 runs.
Thakuria was ably supported by Niraj Sharma (44), Amit Bikram (24) and Rio Pramanik (21).
Sumitra Das of South Point claimed three of the five wickets to fall.
The first half saw Priyanku build the tottering South Point innings literally from scratch (40/4) with a hurricane 165-run fifth-wicket stand with Rohit Baruah who remained unbeaten on 63 off 98 balls.
Priyanku hit 11 fours and two sixes, perishing on the last ball to Dhrubjit Kalita who finished with figures of 7-3-31-3.
