Guwahati, Nov. 22: Top seed Parikshit Somani stormed into the quarter-finals of the boys' singles event of the ITF Juniors World Ranking Tennis Tournament at the All Assam Tennis Association complex here today.
Parikshit put up an impressive show to defeat Sundar Arvind 6-3,6-1 in the under-18 boys' pre-quarterfinals.
The doubles matches of the tournament started today. The quarter-final matches of the boys and girls' singles event will be played from Wednesday morning.
Fourth seed Aditya Vashistha did not have to struggle to get past Aditya Sathpathy 6-1, 6-0 while second seed Nitin Kumar Sinha eased past Mingki Talom 6-0, 6-1.
Sixth seed Rishabh Sarada made a comeback after losing the first set, to defeat Bharat Nishok Kumaron 3-6, 7-6(9), 6-2.
In the under-18 girls' pre-quarterfinals, top seed Eunhe Lee of Korea had it easy against Kiran Kalkal of India for a 6-1, 6-0 victory while second seed Maria Krupenina of Russia defeated Iswari Seth of India 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 .

Girls under-18 pre-quarters: Third seed Shivani Sawrup Ingle defeated Rutuparna Choudhury 6-1, 6-2; fifth seed Shrivalli Rashmika Bhamidapatty beat Rashmika Ranjan 6-2, 6-3; 8th seed Harsha Sai Challa (India) beat Aanya Goel (USA) 6-1, 6-0; 6th seed Aaliya Ebrahim beat Divya Vanni M (6-2, 6-0; 4th seed Vaidehi Chaudhari beat Tanisha Kashyap 7-6, 6-2; 7th seed Sarvya Shivani Chilakalapuddy beat Prinkle Singh 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.
