Kokrajhar, April 13: One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in two separate incidents of post-poll violence in the Saraibil area under Gossaigaon police station in Kokrajhar district.
The body of Ranendra Borgoyary, 35, of Laukriguri was recovered from Ballamjhora this morning.
He went missing last evening after leaving home around 8pm.
Gossaigaon police said Borgoyary, a surrendered NDFB cadre, was the vice- president of Gossaiagon district committee of the United Democratic Peoples’ Front (UDPF) but had joined the Bodoland Peoples’ Front (BPF) before the Assembly election.
In a separate incident, two persons, Kamal Narzary, 38, and Haricharan Brahma, 25, were seriously injured when alleged BPF workers assaulted them at Saraibil under Gossaigaon police station in Kokrajhar district last evening.
They had campaigned for the UDPF candidate from Gossaigaon constituency, Rajendra Mushahary.
Haricharan Brahma said he was called out of his house by 4-5 youths on the pretext of some discussion and was taken away to nearby isolated place in a Bolero and beaten. “They first took me and later brought Kamal Narzary, and started beating us,” Brahma said.
The two are undergoing treatment at the Kokrajhar Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital.
Tension prevails in the area after the incident.
