Notun, St Paul triumph

Guwahati, June 2: Notun Fatasil Town High School and St Paul English High School registered victories in their respective matches of the 10th Dhan Sena Sinha All-Assam Inter-School Prize-Money Cricket Tournament at Latasil playground here today.

Notun Fatasil Town High School registered a 46-run victory over Ulubari Higher Secondary School in the first match of the day. Despite the defeat, Ulubari boys qualified for the quarter-finals with a better net run rate.

Electing to bat, Notun Fatasil batsmen managed 87 runs before being all out in 18.2 overs. Bittu Deka scored 16 runs off 27 balls. Jintu Kalita and Bhaskar Dutta picked up two wickets.

In reply, the Ulubari boys were all out for 41 runs in 11.2 overs. Jintu Kalita with 11 runs off 20 balls was the lone batsman to reach the double-figure mark. Rudra Deka and Sanjay Basfor picked up three wickets each.

In the second match of the day, St Paul English High School got the better of Capital Public School by 45 runs.

Put in to bat, St Paul boys put up a total of 109 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Abhishek Pandey topscored with 30 runs off 15 balls, while Mukesh Kumar and Chandan Roy chipped in with 17 and 15 runs respectively. Sumanta Sarania, Zaheer Khana and Utpal Das picked up two wickets each. Chasing a modest total, Capital Public School batsmen were all out for 64 runs in 10.3 overs. Abhishek Dutta remained not out with 10 runs off 14 balls.
