He said all entry check gates, should be strengthened to thwart any influx of illegal immigrants and mobile patrolling in vulnerable locations should be activated.
The advisory said non-locals entering the district should not be allowed without a valid pass issued by the district administration and any unusual influx of outsiders without valid passes should be promptly brought to the knowledge of the district administration and police.
The antecedents of any new tenants should be properly checked and verified by the district administration and police, the advisory said. The district administration and police will monitor the regulation of inner-line permit, especially along the border areas of Ralan and Bhandari, it said.
Comments gag plea
A delegation of the North East Linguistic Ethnic Coordination Committee (NELECC) will meet Assam chief minister and governor in Guwahati this week to seek their help to stop the release of wrong comments by the political leaders and members of various organisations about the 40 lakh plus people, missing from the draft NRC, being illegal foreigners.
Addressing a press conference in Silchar on Monday, NELECC adviser and senior advocate Santanu Naik said the names of genuine Indians have also not been included in the complete draft NRC published on July 30 but various political leaders and members of different organisations are giving misleading and false comments that all the persons whose names are not on the draft NRC are illegal Bangladeshis. He said this is giving a wrong message to the nation and the world.
Naik said NELECC is trying to educate the people whose names are not on the draft NRC and a team of 48 advocates would help people resolve the issue.
He said they will open centres in all the blocks of Cachar district to help the people.
