Assam planning and development minister Prithibi Majhi has asked officials of various departments to make a sincere effort to ensure the successful implementation of development projects.
Majhi requested them to submit utilisation certificates in time so that the project amount could be utilised in full. It also said wards of soldiers who died in harness, who had scored above 45 per cent marks, would be entitled to a scholarship of Rs 2,500 per annum from Classes I-VI. A report by the joint director of health services, Kamrup, stated that 54.56 per cent of children were immunised on the first day of the pulse polio programme in the district. A total of 120,723 children could be immunised out of the targeted 221,235. Chief executive member of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, P. Langthasa, has submitted proposals to the Assam government. These include upgrading the 30-bed Maibong civil hospital to a 100-bed one and posting doctors and staff at primary health centres and sub-centres.
