Football with robot

Boys playing football with one of the robots created by them. No fiction, this. Tinsukia English Academy students did exactly that at a workshop conducted by RoboSapiens India, Noida, with IIT Guwahati on the school premises. Robonova, the three-day workshop on robotics — the first of its kind in the Northeast — began on September 1 and was organised by the school’s science teacher Ridip Hazarika. Students from Class VI to XII made 10 robots. Design engineer of RoboSapiens India, Noida, Puneet Bhandari, junior executive Meetinder Singh and trainee Rupam Poddar, were the resource persons.

Competition

Interested students may send their entries with complete contact details to the teacher in-charge, Scribbles II, department of English, B. Borooah College or to abhigyan99@yahoo.com. The upper word limit for Scribbles is 2,000. There would be lucrative cash awards for the winners, the department said. Those interested can contact 9435191884.

College day

A smriti tarpan was held to offer homage to the deceased teachers and students who contributed towards building this institute by Bujorbaruah, dean L.K. Hazarika, the faculty members and the students. A cultural programme in the evening was illuminated with an Assamese chorus, Bihu dance and a musical entertainment. The cultural programme was co-ordinated by B.K. Sharma, other faculty members and students.

Camp

Actors Utpal Das and Mayukh Sharma who were the special guests donated blood and were followed by the institute’s students. After donating blood for the first time, Das said it was an enjoyable experience and urged the youths to donate blood. Sharma assured the group that he would help them in their social initiatives. The blood donation programme was part of Darwin’s Social Initiatives. The blood bank of Gauhati Medical College Hospital collected blood.
