12 injured as bus overturns

Dhubri: Twelve passengers were injured when a mini-bus, going from Dhubri to Bilasipara, overturned on National Highway 31 at Angarkata under Bogribari police station in Dhubri district around 10am on Sunday. Of the injured, two were critical and admitted to Dhubri Civil Hospital. Others were admitted to Bilasipara Community Hospital. Police sources said the driver of the bus lost control while trying to overtake another bus at Angarkata.

Rebel dead

Kokrajhar: Security personnel shot dead an NDFB rebel at Kahitima forest near Labdanguri in Baksa district on Saturday.

Three held

Kokrajhar: Three suspected jihadis were held with five crude bombs from Sapkata in Kokrajhar district on Saturday.

Militants killed

Imphal: A joint team of police and the army gunned down three unidentified militants, suspected to be cadres of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Council), in an encounter at Parengba hill in Bishnupur district on Sunday.

Arrested

Nagaon: Idris Ali, 40, was arrested with fake currency notes amounting to Rs 20,000 at Lohorighat in Morigaon district on Sunday.

Joint release

Dhubri: Dhubri deputy commissioner Jatindra Lahakar and Dhubri superintendent of police Partho Sarathi Mahanta on Sunday jointly released a sticker on Dhubri Gurudwara with a view to put it on the international tourist map.
