Jorhat, Oct. 10: A central team comprising DoNER secretary J. Chandra and chairman of Inland Waterways Authority of India Bhupinder Singh today visited Majuli. Assam transport commissioner Swapnanil Baruah also accompanied the team, which made a preliminary survey for better communication between the island and Jorhat. Jorhat: Two youths, Bijit Gogoi and Pal Gogoi, were arrested by a police patrol party near the Bhogdoi bridge here on Sunday night. The two confessed that they had stolen two bikes from Borigaon a few days ago and sold them at Naginimara. Variety of trees were panted across the army campus at Kharupetia. The plantation drive by the soldiers would continue at other places at Darrang and Udalguri, where the unit is conducting anti-militancy operations.
