Jorhat, Nov. 2: North Jorhat Sports Association sailed into the quarter-finals of the 50th Assam Tea Planters Association Football Shield Tournament, drubbing Sivasagar Football Coaching Centre 5-1 at Jorhat Stadium here today.

North Jorhat, the district inter-sub-association champions, scored on four occasions. Sashin Phukon scored the first goal for the winners in the fourth minute, capitalising upon a fine pass from right-winger Biswa Saikia.

The local team went ahead in the 30th minute when Biju Phukon converted a penalty shot. Six minutes later, Biswa Saikia found the net, dribbling past four Sivasagar defenders.

Umesh Hazarika scored the fourth goal in the 42nd minute. Substitute Dipankar Tamuly scored the fifth goal for his team with a powerful long ranger. Host captain Lucky Ranjan Baruah scored off a penalty in the dying minutes of the match.

Tomorrow, ASEB will take on Nepothya Club of Jorhat in the last pre-quarterfinal.
