North Imphal edge past Anouba Imagi

Imphal, Aug. 22: North Imphal Sporting Association outplayed Anouba Imagi Mangal by two goals in the 6th Manipur State League at Khuman Lampak main stadium today.

North Imphal Sporting Association with two wins in a row have so far collected six points.

The North Imphal team looked positive and wasted no opportunities, as L. Nabachandra Singh fetched the opening goal with a header in the 10th minute.

They moved ahead in the 31st minute, as G. Golmei slammed home his team’s second goal off a pass from S. Manimohan Singh.

The Anouba Imagi side did manage two close shots but were saved by NISA keeper L. Premkumar Singh.

NISA player L. Ratan Singh and Anouba Imagi Mangal player N. Suresh Singh got a yellow card in the match.

Kuki Sporting Club claimed the champion’s title of the Imphal West S. Birendra Singh Memorial Super Division Football League Tournament, defeating Chingamathak Young Learners Club at Lilong Chajing.

The Kuki Sporting team topped with 13 points trailed by Indo Burma Sporting Association with eight points and Sagolband United with seven points.

The Kuki Sporting team had no difficulty in taming Chingamathak Young Learners Club with a 8-4 goal victory to put them on top.

S.C. Bungthot struck three goals while K. Vaiphei, Lankhotlen, S. Haokip, Mungkhosen and Letmin Khongsai fetched a goal each for the Kuki Sporting team.

For Chingamathak team, Chingthangkhomba scored two goals, while Nobin Singh and Naoton Singh chipped in with a goal each.

In another match, Sagolband United had a goalless draw against Indo Burma Sporting Association to collect seven points.

District badminton: Thangboi Baite clinched the men’s singles title of the 1st District-Level Independence Cup Badminton Tournament at IMBBA Hall, Moreh in Chandel district.

Thangboi defeated Koson Saka 21-16, 9-12, 21-10 for the victory.

The tournament, sponsored by 31 Assam Rifles of Sector 26, saw the pair of Koson Saka and Roco Anal clinch the men’s doubles title beating M. Mubi and Ch. Sarat 21-16, 14-21, 21-17.
