Shillong, July 19: Nongkrem have taken an early lead in the first division football tournament, organised by the Shillong Sports Association, but they have Meghalaya Police (MLP), Boys Sports Company and Imson close at their heels.

Nongkrem have seven points from their three fixtures, while the other teams have six each, with MLP having a game in hand.

The policemen can take the top spot tomorrow as they face Smit at J.N. Sports Complex here.

In yesterday's match, Imson beat Nongthymmai 2-1.
