Agartala, Aug. 31: Riven by internal dissension, the official faction of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) led by Biswamohan Debbarma has initiated a move to reconcile with the breakaway Nayanbasi group.

At a meeting of the NLFT commanders in the Burmatilla area in West Tripura recently, the leaders decided to send two representatives to its rival faction for working out a way to end the recurring clashes between the two groups.

Senior NLFT commanders Mantu Koloi, Dhanu Koloi, Satya Debbarma, Chelama Debbarma and Sudhir Debbarma attended the meet.

Commander in-chief of the official group Mantu Koloi said it was important for all factions of the NLFT to unite to take on the All Tripura Tiger Force, which was expanding its influence by the day.

The leaders also discussed the recent change of guard in Autonomous District Council (ADC). Sources said the outfit has been facing a severe funds problem ever since the CPM-backed NSPT took over charge of the council.

The group will intensify its activities and launch a recruitment drive to revitalise the organisation.

Sources said the security forces have been informed of the new plan of the NLFT.
