Dimapur: Naga People's Front (NPF) leader and Nagaland home minister Kuzholuzo Nienu on Friday declared that the next NPF government shall cleanse the process of governance from corruption of all kinds and that serious corruption cases with prima facie proofs would be handed over to the CBI to bring the culprits to book.

Nienu said protection of Naga identity, curbing the menace of illegal immigrants, imparting skills to youths, quality education and healthcare and promotion of agri and allied sectors shall be the agenda of the next NPF government.

Nienu, who launched an election campaign at Dzulha village under Phek, which was attended by thousands of his supporters, said reforms in governance would be the NPF government's priority so that good and efficient governance can be provided to the people.

He said there won't be posts of parliamentary secretaries and advisers in the next ministry.

The NPF government will "provide honourable and effective involvement in governance to the legislators without attracting in the least the question of holding an office of profit as provided under Article 191 of the Constitution," he added.

Asserting that any political settlement has to take place under a popular government in the state, Nienu said the NPF government would contribute its best to facilitate an early and lasting settlement to the Naga political problem.

Nienu said the NPF was sure to form the next ministry.

"Of the 19 nominations filed by BJP candidates, the party could win between three and six seats. The newly floated Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) might win eight seats at the most of the 38 seats it is contesting," he said, exuding confidence that the NPF by itself could win more than 30 seats.

Neinu was the first to file his nomination in the state on Tuesday and is contesting from Phek Assembly constituency against Shezoto Lohe (Congress) and Kupoto Khesoh (NDPP).
