Guwahati, March 26: A hurricane century by Harish Rana today helped National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Ltd to a 30-run victory over Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam.
In the other matches of the 11th Power Sector Sports Control Board inter-central power sector undertaking cricket tournament today, Bhakra Beas Management Board and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) posted easy wins.
The Bhakra boys crushed Power Grid by six wickets at Nehru Stadium.
NTPC tamed Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) by seven wickets at NF Railway ground, Maligaon, here.
At Oil India Ltd ground, the NHPC boys batted first and rode a solid 109 off 90 balls by Harish Rana to be all out for 183 in 29.3 overs. In reply, the Sutlej team was restricted to 153 for nine in 30 overs.
Another main scorer for NHPC included Bineet Sekhar (31). Kuldeep Raj and Balwant Negi of the Sutlej team shared three wickets each for 24 and 31 runs respectively.
Rajinder Prasad topscored for Sutlej with 47 runs while 22 runs came from the bat of Balwant Negi. Anish Kumar and Rajesh Kumar shared two wickets each for 21 and 23 runs respectively. Rana was named Man of the Match.
At Nehru Stadium, Power Grid batted first and were skittled out for a paltry total of 58 runs in 17 overs. The Bhakra team reached 59 for four in 14.2 overs.
Sri Hari (10) was the only batsman from Power Grid to score in double digits.
Kewal Singh of the Bhakra team hauled six wickets for 23 runs to be eventually named Man of the Match. Amit Kumar scalped three for 16.
For the Bhakra team, Pawan Kumar (23) and Rajesh Kumar (15) were the main scorers. A.K. Mishra of Power Grid claimed two for five runs.
In the other match of the day, DVC batted first and were restricted to 122 for eight in 30 overs. NTPC reached 125 for three in 19.2 overs.
Vinay Kumar topscored for DVC with 35 runs. Abdul Wahab contributed 16 runs. Prasant C. Khade of NTPC captured two wickets for 15 runs.
Prabhakar Goyal topscored for NTPC with 29 runs. Prasant Khade and S. Rowl remained unbeaten on 26 each. Abdul Wahab claimed two wickets for 26 runs.
