Aizawl: Mizoram will host the third edition of Xchange North East Youth NGO summit from October 3 to 5.
The event, which is an initiative of a Dimapur-based CAN Youth, will be hosted by a Mizoram-based NGO, Full Life Access Trust (FLAT) at Berawtlang here, leaders of FLAT said on Thursday.
The members of the group said the summit would see participation from young leaders from all the northeastern states who run their own NGOs or social enterprises and are working for development of the region.
The North East Youth NGO summit- Aizawl will be a kind of platform for young leaders and entrepreneurs from the region to come together, share ideas, learn from icons and experts and mobilise resources.
The participating youth leaders will present their ideas and work to an expert panel and the most promising leader will also gain funding and mentoring from experts, FLAT leaders said.
During the summit, sessions and panel discussion on issues related with sustainable development, entrepreneurship and employment in the Northeast and youth participation in politics will be held.
The summit will see participation from many promising and passionate young leaders who will get the opportunity to interact with and learn from other youth icons as well as experienced leaders and role models involved in development, politics, business and academic.
To set the North East Youth NGO summit ball rolling, the organising team from different states visited Aizawl between August 22 and 28 and met district administration, department officials, private companies, corporation and Mizoram NGOs, who gave positive response to the organisers.
The organisers of the proposed summit are looking to partner with the government departments, development organisations, companies, business leaders among others for sponsorship.
Initiated by CAN, the first NE Youth NGO was held at Dimapur in Nagaland in 2016 and the second edition of the summit was held last year at Shillong in Meghalaya which saw participation of young leaders from 22 NGOs across the Northeast.
