Imphal, July 23: Nambul Mapal Cultural Association drubbed Sagolband United by 5-1 goals in the Imphal West S. Birendra Memorial Super Division Football League 2013 at SKYC ground at Sekmai today.

Nambul Mapal’s Rishikanta Singh scored the opening goal in the eighth minute and later, W. Basanta Singh consolidated in the 29th minute.

Y. Bipin Singh scored his team’s third goal in the 48th minute to dominate the proceedings.

Nambul Mapal let down their guard and Sagolband United took advantage with A. Nanao outwitting the Nambul keeper for his team’s lone goal in the 63rd minute.

Nambul Mapal player L. Milankumar Singh netted the fourth goal in the 73rd minute.

Madhumangol Singh scored the winning goal for Nambul Mapal in the 79th minute for the victory today.

In another match, Young Physique Union beat Thangmeiband Athletic Union by 2-1 goals.

Demise: Olympian judoka Lourembam Brojeshowri Devi passed away at J.K. Hospital in Coimbatore on Sunday night. The 32-year-old judoka, who was a CRPF inspector, was undergoing training in Coimbatore, when she developed an ailment and passed away. The cause of death will be ascertained after an autopsy.

She participated in the Sydney and Beijing Olympics and many national and international championships. She was married to Th. Rojen Singh of Tabungkhok in Imphal West.

Referees: The AIFF has shortlisted seven referees for I-League 2013-14 subject to passing CAT-1 Fitness test. The referees are I. Rabichandra Singh, L. Ajitkumar Meitei, H. Khamba Singh, Ph. Lanthoiba Singh and the assistant referees are M. Magho Singh, Rinkahao Vasum and S. Kenedy.
