Imphal, Sept. 7: Nambul Mapal Cultural Organisation registered their first win, defeating United Sporting Association by 2-1 goals in the 9th Manipur State League at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
Nambul Mapal, playing their second match, got the better of United Sporting, whose keeper Thangtinpao Khongsai had a bad day under the bar, prompting team officials to replace him in the second half with Golmei Dihempu.
United Sporting Association obtained an early goal through Ch. Risk Meitei in the third minute.
However, Nambul Mapal’s Milankumar Laitonjam, latching on to a loose ball from United keeper Thangtinpao after a free kick by N. Rajesh, shot home the equaliser.
United Sporting Association fared no better in the second half as Nambul Mapal consolidated through Newton Golmei in the 54th minute off a cross from S. Rabindra Meitei for the victory today.
In another match, Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union held Southern Sporting Union by 2-2 goals, to share a point each.
Southern Sporting Union took the lead through L. Dewan in the 12th minute.
Md Riyas Khan consolidated in the 87th minute.
However, Tiddim Road struck through L. Ratan Singh with their first goal in the 90th minute. H. Birjit connected a header off a corner kick from Kh. Jacky.
Imphal East first division: NIVSO Keibi beat Rising Athletic Union by a solitary goal in the Imphal East M. Ibobi Singh Memorial First Division Football League 2014 at the artificial turf, Khuman Lampak. Th. Aboy Singh fetched the winning goal for NIVSO.
In another match, UPSA Pukhao beat DOAK Yairipok by 3-0 goals with K. Inao, Kh. Asom and Y. Bishes scoring a goal each.
Kang meet: Yaiskul Kangkhut (A) beat KKCO Elangbam Leikai by 23-15 points in the 59th CC Meet Kang Tournament 2014 played at Shree Shree Gopaldev Mandap, Yaiskul.
