Aizawl: The indefinite hunger strike called by the Mizoram Underground Returnees' Association (Mura) entered its 14th day on Friday as the state government has not given any positive response about meeting its demands.

Mura, an association of ex-Mizo National Front (MNF) rebels, has been seeking fulfilment of the political agreement the Mizoram PCC had reached with the association before the 2013 Assembly elections.

Around 16 to 20 Mura members are on hunger strike since June 6 at their office in Aizawl, demanding the Congress to fulfil its 10-point agreement. The hunger strike was temporarily suspended on June 15 after Mizoram chief minister Lal Thanhawla agreed to hold talks with the leaders.

However, the hunger strike resumed on Tuesday evening as the state government could not give any positive response to meet the demands of the association.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Mura president P.C. Lalthuama said the leaders of the association on Tuesday met Lal Thanhawla, who refused to give any hints on meeting their demands.

"We met the chief minister at his office on Tuesday. He neither wanted to look at us nor commented on measure to address our plight. He only told us to have a dialogue with some ministers and officials under his chairmanship. We returned frustrated," he said.

Lalthuama said the strike will continue till their demands are met.

There are about 3,000 members under the association across the state.
