Tezpur, Oct. 25: A FIR has been filed against Bhaskar Nath, son of a local Congress leader, on charges of sexually assaulting a girl.

The victim, who used to work at Nath’s residence, filed the FIR today at the Bebejia police outpost, alleging that she has been sexually harassed and raped for the last two days.

Bebejia police conducted a search operation but Nath is absconding. Sources said he is the son of a police inspector in Tezpur police reserve and his mother is a Congress district secretary in Tezpur, appointed by the PCC.

Police sources said Nath is involved in several cases of car-lifting and robbery. In 2011, he was arrested and sent to judicial custody for a car-lifting case under Bebejia outpost.
