Guwahati, Feb. 9: The quarterfinal line-up was drawn up today in the Khakan Ahmed Trophy inter-district school cricket meet that got underway in Jorhat yesterday. Altogether 20 district teams are participating in the meet that was revived by the directorate of sports after 15 years.
In today?s pre-quarterfinal (25-overs-a-side) matches, Barpeta beat Morigaon by 57 runs at Gymkhana Ground. Barpeta scored 161 for five in 25 overs and Morigaon were bundled out for 104. In another match at the same ground, Dibrugarh thrashed Sonitpur by six wickets. Sonitpur were skittled out for 64 in 16.4 overs and Dibrugarh reached 69 for four in 21 overs.
At Jorhat District Sports Association Ground, Tinsukia and Kokrajhar posted easy wins. Tinsukia beat Karbi Anglong by 44 runs. Tinsukia scored 132 for four in 20 overs and Karbi Anglong were all out for 88 in 16.2 overs.
Kamrup (metro) inflicted a 54-run defeat on Sivasagar and hosts Jorhat registered an eight-wicket defeat on Goalpara in the two matches at Jorhat Stadium. Kamrup (metro) scored 150 for eight in 25 overs and Sivasagar were bundled out for 96 in 16.2 overs.
In the afternoon match, Goalpara were restricted to 83 for nine in 25 overs and Jorhat romped home losing two wickets in 16.4 overs.
At Assam Agriculture University Ground, Nagaon and Kamrup (rural) emerged victorious. Nagaon (104 in 21 overs) beat Lakhimpur (90 in 23 overs) by 14 runs.
In the second tie, Kamrup (rural) scored 168 for six in 25 overs and Bongaigaon were all out for 120 in 21.3 overs.
On Wednesday, Morigaon got a walkover against Cachar, Sivasagar beat Darrang, Karbi Anglong got a walkover against Hailakandi, Goalpara were awarded a walkover against Dhemaji, Bongaigaon defeated Karimganj, Kokrajhar beat Nalbari and Sonitpur defeated Dhubri.
In the last four encounters tomorrow, Kamrup (metro) play Barpeta and Kamrup (rural) clash with Kokrajhar at Gymkhana Ground while Tinsukia meet hosts Jorhat and Dibrugarh clash with Nagaon at Jorhat Stadium.
