Guwahati, March 12: Ruling party legislators from the tea tribe community have expressed their dissatisfaction over “meagre” financial allocation made for the uplift and development of the community in the state budget, which was presented by chief minister Tarun Gogoi.

Senior Congress MLA from the community, Rameswar Dhanowar, today told reporters that the tea tribe community was ignored in the budget for 2013-14 and they (tea tribe MLAs) were unhappy about it.

Dhanowar said while Rs 500 crore was allocated for the minority community, only Rs 23 crore has been allocated for the tea community.

He said out of Rs 23 crore, around Rs 20 crore would go towards salaries and nothing could be achieved with Rs 3 crore.

He said they would take up the matter with the chief minister and if he ignored them then they would be left with no other option but to move the party high command.

In another development, five Congress legislators today submitted written complaints to Speaker Pranab Gogoi urging him to initiate breach of privilege proceedings against KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi for his “baseless and defamatory” allegations against them.

These five legislators are Pijush Hazarika, Chandan Sarkar, Sib Charan Basumatary, Rekibuddin Ahmed and Jayanta Mallah Baruah.
