Manipur Thang-Ta champions

Imphal, Jan. 3: The Manipur Thang-Ta team emerged champions in the 13th sub-junior, junior and senior national Thang-Ta contest held at Calungate Sports Association ground in Goa, bagging 74 medals. Jammu and Kashmir clinched the runners-up title, winning 55 medals.

The events, held under the aegis of Thang-Ta Federation of India, was organised by the Goa Thang-Ta Association.

Manipur Thang-Ta players fetched 58 gold, 12 silver and four bronze medals.

The Best Fighter’s award (men) was bagged by Manajit Rajkumar of Tripura. Mani Surliyana from Haryana won the women’s title. Assam’s L. Romila Chanu and Ajay Sandhi of Madhya Pradesh were declared the best fighters in their disciplines. The Best Coach title was conferred on Sh. Ibomcha of Manipur.

The next edition of the competition will be held at Agra in October.
