Imphal, Sept. 25: The Revolutionary Peoples’ Front (RPF), Manipur’s major rebel outfit, ruled out accepting Centre’s offer for peace talks. President of the outfit, Irengbam Chaoren, said entering into a dialogue with New Delhi would not restore freedom. Chaoren today issued a message on the occasion of 28th raising day of the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA), the military wing of the RPF.
Chaoren said the Mizo National Front, following a dialogue with the Centre, had bowed to India’s pressure and deviated from revolutionary ideology.
“In the absence of a revolutionary ideology, the NSCN, during its nine-year-long talk with the Centre, couldn’t raise the issue of Naga sovereignty. Freedom can’t be achieved through talks when the opponent is strong,” he asserted.
The RPF and the PLA would never deviate from their ideological position, he said. “Fruits of development and peace won’t reach Manipur until freedom is restored”.
Admitting that people have started losing faith in militants, the RPF leader called on all the outfits to rectify their errors. He said people believed that revolutionary groups were behind the attack on the Iskcon temple. Security measures were strengthened today throughout the state in view of the PLA foundation day.
