Imphal, March 3: Manipur bagged 10 gold medals in the National-Level North East Games, 2016 (M&W) under Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan Scheme under way at Khuman Lampak sports complex here.
The hosts claimed six gold medals in judo and four in weightlifting on day two of the meet.
In the 42kg category judo event, S. Maimu of Manipur beat Bellal Choudhury of Tripura for the gold while Zomuansanga of Mizoram and Gobil G. Momin of Meghalaya settled for the bronze.
Ch. Thoiba Singh of Manipur won the gold, Lalchanliana of Mizoram bagged the silver while Rajiv Das of Tripura and Dalveer Singh of Meghalaya fetched the bronze medals in the 90kg plus men's event.
The other gold medallist of Manipur in the judo event includes, A. Malemnganba in the 46kg category while W. Ajoy Singh in the 50kg category, W. Abesana Devi in the 40kg and Inunganbi Devi in the 63kg.
Mizoram also bagged a gold in the 44kg women's bout with Zonun Sangai beating Th. Tababi Devi of Manipur, who settled for the silver. Chanda Sutradhar of Tripura and Ayaie of Nagaland got the bronze medals.
In the weightlifting event, Ch. Rishikanta Singh of Manipur lifted his way to the gold medal with a total of 220 points, while Dambi Umpe of Arunachal Pradesh, with a lift of 192kg, and Trigip Baruah of Assam with a lift of 168kg, settled for the silver and bronze medals. Mizoram also bagged two gold medals in the men's weightlifting event.
Football: Manipur blanked Arunachal Pradesh 6-0 in the women's football. Tripura beat Sikkim 8-0 while Nagaland beat Meghalaya by 3-0 goals. In the men's category, Nagaland beat Meghalaya 1-0 while Mizoram beat Arunachal Pradesh 4-0 and Tripura held Sikkim to a 1-1 draw to share a point each.
Polo: Manipur Police Sports Club (A) trotted into the semi-final beating Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club 7-2 in the 32nd State-Level Polo Tournament, 2016, played at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
In another match, KMM Riding School (A) thrashed Manipur Police Sports Club (C) 5-2 to move into the semi- final as well. S. Jamson struck a hattrick while Ch. Ajit scored two goals for KMM Riding School.
