Guwahati, July 4: Assam lad Madhurjya Dutta, ranked 17th in the country, will lead the under-16 boys’ seeds in the Oil India Limited-AITA Super Series Tennis Championship, at the Chachal Tennis Complex here tomorrow.
Four Assam players obtained direct entry into the main draw of 20 players on the basis of their ranking points. While Amrita Nath booked an under-14 girls’ berth, Marisha Dutta got it in the under-16 girls’ and Madhurjya Dutta and Sidhant Deka in the under-16 boys’ draw.
Altogether 18 Assam players have booked berths in the draw from the qualifiers. They include 10 in the under-16 age group and eight (four each in boys and girls’) in the under-14 age group.
Successful in the qualifiers on Saturday and Sunday: Parijit Krishnarishi, Arindam Dutta, Bijit Daimary, Anchit Talukdar and Parikshit Somani (under-16 boys), Pratiksha Sarma, Jyotishmita Khound, Akansha Das, Jayati Sarma and Sanghamitra Thakur (under-16 girls), Manash Gogoi, Bijay Mohanty, Rohan Gogoi and Abhinandan Das (under-14 boys) and Priyana Kalita, Manmayuri Saikia, Sreyashee Dutta and Gloria Daimary (under-14 girls).
Wildcard entries: Arunansu Borthakur (under-16), Manaswinee Hazarika, Anangsha Alomyan (under-16), Amlanjyoti Baruah, Parikshit Somani, Anchit Talukdar (under-14) and Jayati Sarma, Pratiksha Sarma and Maitry Phukan (under-14).
