Guwahati, Dec. 27: Tanvir Singh of Golaghat caused the only upset on the second day of the 21st Jorhat Open tennis tournament at Jorhat Tennis Club, shocking ninth seed Arnab Jan Lahkar of Duliajan 5-4 (3) in tiebreakers in a single-setter second- round of the U-14 boys’ singles.

Others who entered the pre-quarterfinals are Manas P. Kuli, Nischay Kashyap, Tanay Bagree, Ritwik Kumar, Sanju Pal, Partha P. Dutta, Abhilash Gogoi, Arnab Raj Kumar, Avilash Chaliha, Subhraleen Padmavati, Swagat Barua, Shakib Ahmed and Uddish Borpuzari.

Uddish, Swagat and Abhilash entered the U-18 boys’ singles second round along with Harshit Agarwal, Deepak K. Agarwal, Mrigankav Gayan, Rituraj Gogoi, Naved Hussain, Abhilash Buragohain, Anurag Kashyap, Gyanish Lahon, B. Bharat Reddy and Akshat Jalan. In the boys’ U-12 singles, Dishti Nandan Gogoi, Saumpiya Mahanta, Sumangal Barua, Bishal Taye, Ronil Barua, Nawed W. Ahmed, Tanay Bagree, Prakreet Dutta, Ayan Akash, Prateek Joy Phukan, Avinash Gogoi, Apratim Hazarika, Avishrant Bhattacharya and Anurag Borah entered the second round.
