Lingerijan trounce Rupjyoti

Lingerijan Tea Estate, Naharkatiya, today tamed Rupjyoti Sangha, Jokai, 6-1 in the second quarter-final to make it to the semi-finals of the 12th Jintu Gogoi Football Tournament, organised by Dao Division of the army, in association with Dibrugarh District Sports Association at Chowkidinghee ground here.

Dibrugarh, Dec. 15: Lingerijan Tea Estate, Naharkatiya, today tamed Rupjyoti Sangha, Jokai, 6-1 in the second quarter-final to make it to the semi-finals of the 12th Jintu Gogoi Football Tournament, organised by Dao Division of the army, in association with Dibrugarh District Sports Association at Chowkidinghee ground here.

Lingerijan opened their account in the ninth minute through midfielder John Eka. Striker James Topno fired in a brace before midfielder Amit Gorh netted the fourth goal.

Rupjyoti Sangha found the net for their lone goal through Dipankar Mech. Topno struck back for another brace for his third and fourth goals. In another match, defending champions Tinsukia Railway Divisional Sports Club beat Gargaon Football Coaching Centre, Sivasagar, 3-0.

Dipak Dowerah opened the account for his team in the 20th minute and Nobin Chowra scored the second goal in the 58th minute. Santosh Chetia made it 3-0 in the 69th minute.

Tomorrow, Barekuri Football Coaching Centre play Dibrugarh Football Coaching Centre in the fourth quarter-final.
