Hailakandi, Jan. 27: Lakhimpur clinched a marginal three-run first innings lead against Sivasagar on the first day of their Elite Group A two-day league match of the senior inter-district cricket tournament at Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium in Silchar today.

The Sivasagar men, who clinched a first innings lead for three points against strong opponents Guwahati in their earlier outing on Sunday, today elected to bat first and were bundled out for 127 runs in 36 overs. Former Ranji player Sumit Ranjan Das was the only notable scorer with a brilliant 78-run knock. He faced 111 deliveries of which he slammed 12 hits to the boundary.

In reply, Lakhimpur were all out for 130 runs in 33.2 overs. Chintamoni Sharma (48) was the only notable scorer.

At the end of the first day’s play, Sivasagar were on 16 runs for the loss of one wicket in eight overs in their second innings.
