Hailakandi, March 9: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Mumbai, and Lajong Football Club, Shillong qualified from Group A for the final round of the ONGC I League 2 to be held at Gurgaon in the first week of April.
ONGC topped the tally with three wins out of four, while Lajong finished second with two wins and two draws.
In the last match played at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium in Hailakandi today, Lajong edged past ONGC 2-1 while Camelia George Telegraph, Calcutta held Oil India Football Club, Duliajan, to a goalless draw at Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium in Silchar. Earlier, ONGC defeated Bengal Mumbai FC (BMFC) 2-0, Cammelia George Telegraph 2-1 and Oil India FC 3-1. Lajong defeated Camelia George Telegraph 2-1 and settled for draws with Oil India FC (1-1) and BMFC (2-2).
The Assam Football Association (AFA), which promoted Oil India FC for the elite league, has expressed concern over the poor show by the petroleum giant outfit on home turf.
