Guwahati, Jan. 16: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) today named 27 probables for the Ranji Trophy one-day East Zone tournament to be played in Cuttack in Orissa from February 11 to 19.
Teenaged glovesman Kunal Saikia will be missing from action owing to a shoulder injury suffered during the Ranji Trophy Plate Group semifinal against Orissa last week. “Team physio Shiv Shankar has advised rest and so Saikia has not been invited to the selection trials,” ACA secretary Bikash Baruah said.
The camp will begin here on January 23 and the team is likely to be named by early February, Baruah added.
The ACA will issue photo identity cards to all the probables, which the players will have to procure for themselves before the camp begins. Assam will open its campaign against hosts Orissa in the first match on February 11.
The selectors’ axe also fell on seasoned paceman Mark Ingty, who had been named for the season-opener against Goa. Gokul Sharma and Shiv Shankar Roy, who were not considered for the day matches, have been called.
