Imphal, Feb. 15: KMMR (A) Singjamei galloped ahead with a 7-3 goal win over Imphal Riding Club, Lamphel, in the 30th N. Hazari & Dr N.Tombi State Polo Tournament 2015, which got under way at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
The KMMR team got off to a flying start with O. Satyajit Singh and L. Dhaneshwar leading the charge, hammering two goals each to post 4-0 goals in the first chukker.
Keeping the momentum, the KMMR team moved further ahead with A. Ranjan consolidating with a goal in the second chukker.
Imphal Riding Club scored in the third chukker with N. Ranjan and L. Romeo striking a goal each to narrow the margin to 2-5 goals. KMMR rider A. Ranjan hit a goal to make it 6-2.
The fourth chukker witnessed KMMR rider S. Janison making a hit to the goal.
For Imphal Riding, the goal from L. Ravi proved to be too late as they bowed out with 3-7 goals.
In tomorrow's matches, Cosmopolitan Youth Club will take on SYUC while MEIRAA will meet UYC in the second match.
THAU tennis: Azad Khan claimed the champion's title of the men's singles in the 11th THAU Tennis Championship, 2015 that concluded yesterday. Azad Khan beat Y. Leelejee 1-6,6-2,6-4 for the champion's title.
TBSFA football: TBSFA(A) beat All-Moirang Football Association by 2-0 goals in the Under-10 TBSFA Football Tournament played at Tabungkhok in Imphal West.
In the other match, AMOFA beat IMA Iram Siphai by 2-0 goals.
