Guwahati, Feb. 5: Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara (KVK), today edged past Smart English School by two wickets in a league match of the 1st Dinendra Nath Gohain and Dharmendra Sharma inter-school (under-15) cricket tournament played at the Dispur ground.
The Smart School boys elected to bat first and were restricted to a modest total of 118 for nine in the stipulated 20 overs. The Khanapara boys reached the target in 17.3 overs losing eight wickets.
Ajad Ali topscorer for Smart School with a run-a-ball 29 while Madan Chetri made a blitzkrieg 21 in nine deliveries. Jyotishman Khatoniar and Debashish Kashyap of KVK took two wickets each.
For KVK, Kashyap and Suman Saikia contributed 22 each with the bat. Tek Narayan and Rohit Yadav of Smart School picked up two wickets each.
Debashish Kashyap was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Little Flower High School will face Fairyland High School tomorrow.
