Guwahati, May 11: Kamrup Academy Higher Secondary School defeated Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti by five wickets, while Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara (Red) and Modern English School, Kumarpara, shared two points each in the Dhan Sena All-Assam Inter-school Cricket Tournament at Latasil ground here today.
In the first rain-interrupted match that remained incomplete, KVK elected to bat and were 33 for three in seven overs when rain stopped play. The match did resume in scheduled time, so the two teams settled for point sharing.
In the second match, which, too, was truncated to 10-overs-an-innings, Sarla Birla elected to bat first and posted 85 for 5. Kamrup Academy reached the target in 8.2 overs.
Tomorrow, Lalchan Okarmal Goenka Hindi High School play Dantin Academy and KVK (Blue) meet Angels of God Hindi School.
East Zone selection: Junior national selector from Assam Rajesh Borah and Assam Cricket Association secretary Bikash Baruah, the convenor of the BCCI East Zone, were named the selectors of the East Zone under-16 and under-19 teams for the Hanumant Singh (under-16) Trophy and the Hemu Adhikari Trophy.
