Ishika topples Aishwarya

 Ishika Chakma caused an upset by defeating fourth seed Aishwarya Kailaje 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the girls' under-14 singles quarter-final of the ONGC Asian Junior Tennis Tournament at Jorhat Tennis Club today.

Guwahati, Oct. 27: Ishika Chakma caused an upset by defeating fourth seed Aishwarya Kailaje 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the girls' under-14 singles quarter-final of the ONGC Asian Junior Tennis Tournament at Jorhat Tennis Club today.

The other seeds sailed smoothly to book their semi-final slots.

Top seed Riya Uboveja did not drop a set to defeat Kristi Boro 6-0, 6-0; third seed Adithi Venkatakrishnan defeated Shakshi Baruah 6-0, 6-1 while second seed Mushrath Anjum Shaik overcame a tough second set to get the better of Harshita Borah 6-0, 7-5.

Day four of the tournament, however, saw rain play spoilsport as some of the matches were interrupted during the day.
