India B cruise into semi-final

Imphal, Nov. 25: India B Manipur outplayed Mongolia 16-3 goals to move into the semi-final of the 8th Manipur Polo International played at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

The first quarter-final match was a cakewalk for the Manipur riders as they exploited their opponent’s weakness, scoring five goals in the first chukker.

M. Jawan Singh struck three goals while T. Pradeepkumar and P. Ojit fetched a goal each.

Despite the demolishing act by their more experienced opponent, Thailand riders managed to chip in with two goals from Myagmarjar Adiya and Khtenger Giereke to trail 2-5.

India B continued their domination in the second chukker with Jawan adding two more goals while Ojit fetched one goal. In the third chukker, Abung Khuman scored three goals while Pradeepkumar chipped in with two more to post 13-2 goals.

Though Thailand were fighting a losing battle, they got a boost through Giereke.

But the marauding Manipur riders made matter worse for them with Jawan, Pradeepkumar and Khuman pushing home a goal each for the victory today.

In another match, USA rode into the semi-final defeating Poland by 18-3 goals. Wyatt Harlow topscored with seven goals while Danielle fetched five goals, Jacob Brown scored four goals and Sebastian Ayeinena chipped in with two goals. For Poland, Victor Alexander fetched two goals while Powel Olbrych scored the other.

Women’s football

NG College entered the semi-final of the Manipur University inter-college women football tournament beating Mayai Lambi College 5-0 at N. Birahari Collge, Imphal East.

Standard Collge also booked their semi-final berth defeating hosts N. Birahari College by 12-0 goals.
