People participate in the Guwahati Half Marathon on Sunday.

As part of Techniche, IIT Guwahati organised its ninth edition of Guwahati Half Marathon - an event to promote better social and human interaction amongst residents of Guwahati and nearby areas.

The theme for the marathon was Run for awareness of organ donation - Live life give life.

Footballer Durga Boro was the chief guest and cricketer Abu Nechim Ahmed was the guest of honour.

The event started with the professional 21km marathon in the morning at Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium in Dispur which was soon followed by the 6km run for the general public.

Techniche convener Animesh Jain said he is happy with the huge turnout this year.

"Runners are the heart and soul of the Guwahati Half Marathon. I hope to make this marathon perhaps the largest in the city." IIT Guwahati dean of student affairs Chandan Mahanta said. Picture by UB Photos
