IIM mourns student demise

Shillong, March 19: The Indian Institute of Management, Shillong has deeply mourned the death of its student Karttik Mishra who died on Sunday morning.

Mishra was a PGP student of the 2012-14 batch of IIM. He accidentally fell and drowned in Sweet Falls at Mawshbuit on the outskirts of the city.

IIM Shillong director Keya Sengupta consoled the students and asked everyone to be united and strong in this time of grief. Mishra’s friends paid their last respects and prayed that God give strength of his family to cope with their loss.

A communiqué issued by the institute said Mishra was a brilliant student who would be remembered for his never-say-die spirit. “He is remembered by the members of his group, his committee members and all his friends as someone who always lifted up the spirits during gloomy times. A person who idolised Bhagat Singh, he strongly believed in ideas that could bring about a change in the society,” the communiqué stated.

Faculty members expressed their deep sense of loss and grief over his untimely death.
