Imphal, Aug. 14: Huyen Langlon Thang Ta Academy, Yumnam Huidrom, bagged the overall team champion’s title, bagging 54 medals in the 22nd State Thang Ta Championship at Khuman Lampak indoor stadium.

Huyen Langlon Thang Ta’s Sh. Bishorjit Singh was awarded the Best Male Fighter title while W. Penao Chanu of Lamjao KTTSO got the Best Female Fighter title.

Huyen Langlon Thang-Ta Academy collected 23 gold, 19 silver and 12 bronze, fetching 196 points. Mayai Koibi Pahulashi fetched the runners-up title with seven gold, four silver and two bronze for 51 points.

On the last day of the senior boys’ phunaba anisuba event, H. John Singh of Maibakhul Mikal in the 52kg category, A. Ranachandra also of Maibakhul in the 56kg, A. Somorjit of Yumnam Huidrom HLTA in 60kg, Th. Ajit of Toubul KITO in 70kg, O. Boby of Yumnam Huidrom HLTA in 75kg, Y. Dipendra of Yumnam Huidrom HLTA in 80kg and Kh.Thoungamba of Singjamei HLTA in the 85 kg claimed the gold medals.

In the sub-junior thang haibi, K. Denver of Mayai Koibi Pahulashi and M. Manimukta of Yumnam Huidrom HLTA in Thanglon event claimed the gold medals.

Rk. Momosana of Singjamei HLTA bagged the gold in the junior boys’ Thang Haibi while Sh. Suresh of Yumnam Huidrom HLTA in thanglon and M. Langamba of Mayai Koibi Pahulashi in taron also claimed the gold. In the senior thang haibi, Kh. Kiran Singh of Heinang Misa and A. Maya Chanu of Mimata won the men and women’s golds.

Junior soccer: Silchar defeated Biswanath Charali 2-1 in a match of the 48th All Assam Junior Inter-District Football Tournament for the Santosh Lahkar trophy at Rajiv Gandhi Sports and Cultural Complex, Silapathar in Dhemaji district today.

In another match played at Simen Chapori stadium Dibrugarh defeated Nagaon 1-0.
