Guwahati, May 16: DD Hurricanes (DDH), Jain Group Kedar Road Raiders (KRR) and Mangalam Monks (MM) registered convincing victories in their respective matches of the 1st GTC LNJ T20 Corporate Champion’s League at Judges Field here yesterday.
In the first match, DDH maintained their blemishless record by winning their seventh and last match of the league against Rooby Stars (RS) by 44 runs.
Batting first, DDH put up 134 for nine in their 20 overs with Manoj Malo topscoring 69. Manoj Malo was the Man of the Match.
DDH finished at the top of the table winning all their seven games while RS have managed only one win in five games.
The second match between KRR and Prag Rhinos (PR) saw KRR clinch the third playoff spot by notching up their fifth win in seven outings. For the losers PR, it was their sixth defeat in six games.
PR, batting first, were shot out for only 76. Vison Panchal scalped three wickets for 12 runs in his four overs. Chasing a meagre target of 77 runs, KRR, after some initial hiccups, managed to get there with five wickets and 43 balls to spare. Vison Panchal of KRR was the Man of the Match. In the third encounter of the day, MM kept their semi-final hopes alive with a resounding victory over Rooby Stars (RS).
Riding on Ashish Yadav’s fine knock of 56, RS posted a total of 111 in their 20 overs. Mani Shankar Murasingh, with four wickets for 13 runs, bowled splendidly. MM won by seven wickets with 28 balls to spare.
Murasingh of MM was adjudged the Man of the Match. With this win MM recorded their third win in six matches and squared up against Centenary Spartans in what would be a virtual quarter-final with the winners going through to grab the last available slot in the playoffs.
