BAIDYANATH TROPHY
Hailakandi, June 2: Holy Cross High School annexed the Baidyanath Trophy Cachar district inter-school (under-15) cricket title, defeating Collegiate High School by 23 runs in Silchar on Monday.
Put in to bat first in the rain-marred 20-over-a-side final, Holy Cross posted 123 for three. Skipper Pritam Das and Pratik Choudhury scored 49 runs each. However, Choudhury remained unbeaten and later chipped in with two wickets for 17 runs to be adjudged Man of the Match.
The Collegiate boys were bundled out for 100 with three balls to spare. Opener Satyajit Nath top-scored with 33.
Pritam Roy of Holy Cross was adjudged the best batsman and wicketkeeper of the tournament.
His teammate Abhisekh Das bagged the the best fielder trophy, while Dula Suklavaidya of Narasingh Higher Secondary School was named best bowler of the tournament.
Oxford High School was adjudged the most disciplined team of the meet participated by 22 schools from across the district. The winners were awarded Rs 4,000 and a trophy and the runners-up got a cash prize of Rs 1,500.
