Shillong, July 10: Former Meghalaya minister Adolf Lu Hitler Marak’s bail petition was rejected by the district magistrate today.
Marak was arrested under the Unlawful Activities Preventive Act and the IPC for alleged links with banned underground outfits of the state. The court rejected the bail plea on the ground that Marak’s interrogation is not yet over. The district administration sources said the bail plea has been “kept in abeyance” and would be entertained after police completed Marak’s interrogation.
The district magistrate had wanted to know why other members in the car that was used by surrendered Achik National Volunteers Council (ANVC) militants were not arrested. Two surrendered ANVC militants were arrested while they were travelling in a government vehicle, which was given to Marak when he was minister.
