Happy Child, KV on a high

Guwahati, May 26: Happy Child High School and Kendriya Vidyalaya Borjhar won their respective games in the 7th All Assam Dhansena Sinha Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament at Latasil playground here today.

Happy Child humbled Ulubari HS School by eight wickets while KV Borjhar defeated Pragjyotish English School by 31 runs.

Put to bat, Ulubari were bundled out for 78 in 16.3 overs. Akash Boro played a steady knock of 29 after opener Rahul Singh was dismissed for 11. Happy offie Harsh Joshi took three for nine runs while seamer Hemant Buragohain and left-arm spinner Abir Chakraborty, too, joined the party with two scalps each.

In reply, Happy romped home in 14.1 overs, posting 79 for two. Man of the Match Raktim Das (36 not out), shared a vital partnership with fellow opener Vijay Mishra (16) to lay the foundation for a facile win. For Ulubari, Akash Boro bagged two wickets.

In the afternoon match, KV Borjhar opted to bat and piled up 151 for seven in 20 overs. Aijaz Ahmed was the highest contributor with 31 (18 balls). Opener Subham Sarma and Mintu Sarkar at number three scored 24 and 21 respectively. For Pragjyotish, the pace duo of Bishal Roy and Raju Das scalped three each.

Pragjyotish fell short of their target by 32 runs with three wickets in hand. Bishal led the batting too with a breezy 21. Opener Rajesh Kumar contributed 17 while lower order batsman Sanjib Jha was unbeaten on 15. For KV, seamer Dinesh Bharati scalped three for 17 while Man of the Match Aijaz Ahmed bagged two for a fine all-round show.

Tomorrow, Guwahati Public School will take on Bright Future English School while Faculty HS School play Kendriya Vidyalaya Maligaon.
